The spokesman for the Azawad Movement, Mohamed Al-Mouloud Ramadan, announced the death of 8 leaders of the movement in airstrikes carried out by Malian military forces using drones.
The attacks targeted the town of Tinzouatin in the north of the country, near the Algerian border, resulting in the deaths of several movement leaders, most notably Fahd Ag Al-Mahmoud, the Secretary-General of the Gatia Movement, an armed group of Tuaregs.
The statement confirmed that this number of casualties is the largest of its kind since the beginning of the conflict in 2012.
