The defense team of Sihem Ben Seddine, the former head of the Truth and Dignity Commission, has urged the Tunisian judiciary to remain neutral and release her after her detention since August.
Ben Seddine faces charges of financial corruption and falsifying the Commission’s report, with her lawyers arguing that the charges against her are politically motivated and demanding her immediate release.
The Truth and Dignity Commission, established in 2014, was tasked with investigating violations that occurred between 1955 and 2013.
Similarly, journalists Baha Bouzid and Murad Al-Zghidi were detained on charges of money laundering and spreading false news, reflecting ongoing political and legal controversies in the country.
