Mohamed Al-Bashir announced in a televised statement on Tuesday that he has been appointed to lead a transitional government in Syria until March 1, 2025.

Al-Bashir previously headed the rescue government formed by the opposition before the 12-day assault that led to President Bashar Al-Assad’s ousting.

Attention is now turning to the prospects of the transitional phase and the ability of the involved parties to achieve lasting stability that rebuilds the state and ensures the unity of the territory.
