Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accused the United States and Israel on Wednesday of causing the collapse of the Syrian government.

In a statement to state television, he said, “There is no doubt that what happened in Syria is the result of a joint American and Zionist plan. We have evidence of this, and evidence leaves no room for doubt.”

Khamenei also referenced the role of a neighboring country in this context without naming it, adding, “A neighboring country to Syria plays a clear role in this matter, and no one can deny that.”
