2 Russian Oil Tankers Suffer Severe Damage in Kerch Strait Due to Storm

Russian authorities announced on Sunday that two Russian oil tankers sustained severe damage in the Kerch Strait due to a powerful storm that caused an oil spill.

The tanker “Volgoneft-212,” which had 13 crew members on board, ran aground, resulting in the death of one crew member, while the others were evacuated by rescue teams, according to official reports.

The second tanker, “Volgoneft-239,” which was carrying 14 crew members, also suffered damage and ran aground 80 meters from the shore near the Taman port. Authorities are working to organize a rescue operation for it.
