Peace Talks Between Rwanda and DRC Canceled

The Angolan presidency, mediating between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), announced the cancellation of scheduled peace talks to resolve the conflict in eastern Congo.

Mario Jorge, the presidency’s media officer, informed reporters on Sunday that the summit would not occur as expected, without providing details on the last-minute cancellation.

The DRC presidency noted that discussions had stalled over Rwanda’s demand for direct dialogue between the DRC and the M23 militia.
