UN Envoy: Syria Needs Additional Immediate Humanitarian Aid

UN envoy Geir Pedersen announced on Sunday that Syria requires “additional immediate humanitarian aid.”

The United Nations estimates that over one million people have been displaced since the onset of the offensive led by armed factions, including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which resulted in the ousting of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

Upon his arrival in Damascus, Pedersen stated, “We all know that Syria has gone through a massive humanitarian crisis.”

He added, “We must ensure that Syria receives more immediate humanitarian assistance for the Syrian people and all refugees wishing to return.”
