The Iranian parliament has announced the freezing of a bill aimed at tightening regulations requiring women to wear the hijab.

In September 2023, the Iranian parliament approved a bill that imposed stricter measures on women to enforce hijab compliance; however, Tehran has since retracted its approval.

Some interpret this decision as a response to concerns about the potential outbreak of protests similar to those that occurred following the death of Mahsa Amini.
