The German Tennis Federation appointed Angelique Kerber, former world number one and three-time Grand Slam champion, to an advisory role.
Starting next year, Kerber will support the women’s team in the Billie Jean King Cup and guide young players during camps and tournaments.
Veronica Reker, a board member of the federation, expressed pride in the appointment, emphasizing that Kerber will be an inspiring role model for new players due to her extensive experience and fighting spirit.
The 36-year-old Kerber has had a remarkable career, winning the Australian Open, US Open in 2016, and Wimbledon in 2018, and held the world number one ranking for 34 weeks.
