Lebanon Launches Humanitarian Response Plan for Displaced People After Syrian Opposition Takes Control of Damascus

 

Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamiyeh, reported that the Cabinet has decided to assign the government’s emergency committee to oversee the humanitarian response to the needs of Lebanese displaced from Syrian territories and border areas due to recent events.
Hamiyeh explained that the committee will work in coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, the High Relief Commission, and international organizations.
It is noted that approximately 85,000 displaced individuals, including 20,000 Lebanese, entered Lebanon after the Syrian opposition took control of Damascus.
