Study warns of the impact of Syrian refugee returns on Germany’s labor market and economy

Research conducted by the German Economic Institute in Cologne has shown that the return of Syrian refugees to their home country could have a negative impact on Germany’s economy.
The results of this research indicate that around 80,000 Syrians work in professions facing labor shortages, such as automotive engineers, doctors, and dentists, as well as sectors related to the environment, such as heating and air conditioning.
The analysis also confirms that the return of these professionals to Syria will worsen the skill gap in Germany’s labor market, making it harder to meet the increasing demand in these fields.
