Iraqi Government Announces Resumption of Its Diplomatic Mission in Damascus

 

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia’ al-Sudani stated on Thursday evening that Iraq’s diplomatic mission in Damascus has resumed its duties after its staff was relocated to Lebanon following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
In remarks to “Iraqiya” TV, Sudani emphasized that Iraq is not opposed to engaging with the new Syrian government if it contributes to regional stability.
He also mentioned that Baghdad is waiting for actions from the Syrian authorities, highlighting the importance of respecting Syria’s political diversity and preparing for an inclusive political process.
