The joint investigation team into South Korea’s martial law crisis has summoned President Yun Seok-yeol for questioning next week over his involvement in the imposition of martial law on 3 December.
The team, which includes police, the defence ministry’s investigation unit and others, sent the summons to President Yoon for questioning at the building of the Senior Officials Corruption Investigation Office in Gwacheon, south of Seoul, at 10am on 25 December, an official said.
This is the second summons sent to Yoon by the investigation team after he refused to cooperate with the first summons earlier this week.
Yoon was impeached by the National Assembly on Saturday and suspended from office until the Constitutional Court decides whether to remove or reinstate him.
