The U.S. Central Command, known as CENTCOM, announced the elimination of ISIS leader Abu Yusuf, also known as Mahmoud, during a precision airstrike in Deir ez-Zor province, Syria, on December 19.
In a statement released, CENTCOM reported that the strike resulted in the deaths of two ISIS members, including Abu Yusuf.
CENTCOM emphasized that this airstrike is part of its ongoing commitment, alongside regional partners, to disrupt terrorist efforts to plan and execute attacks against civilians and military personnel from the U.S. and its allies throughout the region and beyond.
