The World Bank has decided to provide Morocco with $250 million for a programme aimed at making agriculture more resilient to climate change.
The World Bank said in a statement on Friday that its Board of Executive Directors had approved $250 million for Morocco.
The funds will be used for Morocco’s Agri-Food Systems Transformation Programme, which aims to increase the resilience of the agri-food system to climate change and strengthen food safety and quality, according to the statement.
For the sixth year in a row, Morocco is facing a real threat of drought, posing risks to the agricultural sector, which is the backbone of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
