The Arakan Army in Myanmar reported seizing a major military headquarters in Rakhine State on Friday, following two weeks of intense fighting, marking the fall of the second regional military command of the military council.
This defeat comes within the context of an armed rebellion against the council, which seized power in 2021.
The Arakan Army was part of an opposition alliance that achieved significant victories, including taking control of the city of Lashio in August of last year.
