Pakistan: 25 People Sentenced for Participating in Protests Against the Army

A Pakistani military court sentenced 25 individuals on Saturday for their involvement in pro-government protests supporting former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was arrested in May 2023 on corruption charges.
The Pakistani army reported that 14 of the convicted individuals were sentenced to 10 years in prison, while the sentences for the remaining individuals were reduced.
Protests erupted across the country following Khan’s arrest, with some targeting military sites, leading to military trials. The army also highlighted that recent acts of violence underscored the need to address political terrorism.
