The military leader in Syria, Abu Muhammad al-Julani, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed their agreement on the necessity of dissolving all armed factions and handing over their weapons to the state, including Kurdish factions.
During his official visit to Damascus, the Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized that “there is no place for the PKK militants and the Kurdish People’s Protection Units in the future of Syria,” noting that “the current phase represents an opportunity for Syria to build its economy and rid itself of terrorism.”
For his part, al-Julani stated, “We will never allow the existence of weapons outside the hands of the state,” indicating that the armed factions would disband.
