Albania to Shut Down TikTok for a Year Over Violence Allegations

Albanian Prime Minister announced that the government will close the TikTok video app for a year, accusing it of inciting violence and bullying, particularly among children.

This decision follows the death of a teenager in mid-November, who was stabbed in a fight allegedly sparked by a video shared on the platform.

Prime Minister Edi Rama stated during a meeting with teachers and parents that “TikTok will be completely shut down for everyone. There will be no TikTok in the Republic of Albania.”
