Bridge Collapse in Northern Brazil Results in Fatalities and Missing Persons

At least two people have died and 12 others are missing following the collapse of a bridge in northern Brazil, a police spokesperson told on Monday.

Four trucks, two cars, and two motorcycles were on the bridge section that collapsed on Sunday afternoon between the states of Maranhão and Tocantins.

The spokesperson noted that two trucks were carrying sulfuric acid, complicating the search for the missing due to the potential for “water contamination.”
