Explosion at explosives factory in northwestern Turkey kills 12

An explosion at a factory in northwestern Turkey killed at least 12 people and injured three others on Tuesday, the region’s governor said.

Twelve of our citizens were killed in the explosion at a factory in the Karesi district,’ Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoglu told NTV Live.

Efforts were still underway to determine how many people were inside the factory, Ustaoglu added.

Local broadcaster CNN Turk reported that the explosion took place at an explosives factory in the northwest of the country.

The explosion took place at a factory in Balıkesir province, the channel said, quoting the regional governor as saying there was no suspicion of sabotage.
