Turkey Allows Visit to PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan

The pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) announced on Friday that Turkey has decided to permit its parliamentary members to conduct a face-to-face visit with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), in his prison.
This marks the first visit of its kind in nearly 10 years.

The party requested this visit last month, shortly after a key ally of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expanded a proposal aimed at ending the 40-year conflict between the state and the PKK, which is banned in Turkey.

It is worth noting that Abdullah Öcalan has been held in solitary confinement since 1999.
