An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck the Philippine island of Mindanao today.
The German Geosciences Research Centre said in a statement that the epicentre of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometres, with no reports of human or material damage as yet.
It should be noted that the last major earthquake to hit the Philippines was in October 2013, measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale and killing more than 220 people.
