French army and foreign ministers Sébastien Locorno and Jean-Noël Barrot will visit Lebanon from Monday to Wednesday to meet French soldiers in the UN Interim Force (UNIFIL) on New Year’s Day, the defence ministry said on Friday.
On Monday, Barrot will meet in Beirut the commander of the Lebanese army, General Joseph Aoun, who is in charge of the deployment of soldiers in the south of the country following the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
On Wednesday, he will meet General Edgar Londos, commander of the southern Litani sector, who represents Lebanon on the ceasefire monitoring committee.
