At least 60 people were killed in a major traffic accident in Ethiopia, where several vehicles collided on a busy road.

The accident occurred in the Sidama region, about 300 kilometers south of the capital, Addis Ababa, and several people were injured with varying degrees of severity.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, amid calls for improved road safety in a country plagued by frequent traffic accidents.
