On Saturday, the European Union began enforcing a new rule aimed at reducing costs and electronic waste by standardizing chargers for electronic devices.
From now on, manufacturers are required to equip all new smartphones, tablets, cameras, headphones, and other electronic devices sold in the 27 EU countries with a USB-C charging port.
This move is part of the EU’s effort to simplify life for European consumers and reduce expenses, as they will no longer need to buy new chargers with each new device. The EU expects this measure to help cut down on old chargers, contributing to a reduction in electronic waste.
