Health Experts: “Disease X” in Congo Caused by Malaria, Influenza, and Coronaviruses

International experts have confirmed that the wave of illnesses in the Banzu area of the Democratic Republic of Congo, known as “Disease X,” is attributed to known pathogens such as malaria and influenza.

A total of 430 laboratory samples were collected from patients, showing symptoms similar to those of influenza.

The World Health Organization reported 48 deaths, while local authorities indicated that more than 130 people have died.
