Protests in Port Sudan over the Expiry of Currency Exchange Period

Protests erupted Tuesday, in Port Sudan as dozens of people staged sit-ins to protest the expiration of the currency exchange period set by the Sudanese government in areas under its control.
Protesters demanded an extension of the period, prompting the government to announce an extension from January 1 to January 6, 2025.
These protests come amid the ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which has caused widespread destruction in the country.
