Puerto Rico has been plunged into darkness following a power grid failure that caused a blackout across much of the island.
The outage occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, the last day of 2024.

The island’s energy infrastructure continues to struggle with the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in 2017, compounding residents’ challenges as they enter the new year.
