Iran has warned the Italian government that the detention of Iranian engineer Mohammad Abedini, based on a U.S. warrant, could jeopardize bilateral relations between the two countries.

Abedini was arrested on December 16 at Malpensa Airport in Milan on charges of providing drone technology used in an attack on a U.S. site in Jordan in January 2024, which resulted in the deaths of three American soldiers.
