Damascus International Airport will resume international flights on January 7, the head of Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Ashhad al-Sulaibi, said, according to the official Syrian News Agency (SANA) on Saturday.
Al-Salibi said: “We announce the start of receiving international flights to and from Damascus International Airport from January 7.”
On December 23, the Damascus Airport Administration announced the suspension of flights until January 1, 2025, except for those that receive special permission from the Civil Aviation Authority.
Damascus International Airport was evacuated of all employees on December 8 and all flights were suspended against the backdrop of military operations that preceded the fall of the government of ousted President Bashar al-Assad.
