Authorities at Damascus Airport have announced the resumption of international flights starting January 7, with Qatar Airways set to begin operations in the city after a 13-year hiatus.

No departures or arrivals have been recorded since December 8, when pro-Assad forces left the airport following a swift offensive by the opposition that began on November 27.
