The secretary of state “will meet with his European counterparts to support a peaceful, inclusive, Syrian-led and Syrian-owned political transition,” according to a State Department statement released Monday during Blinken’s visit to Seoul.
The State Department did not immediately specify which European ministers would attend the meeting. Blinken, who is currently on a tour that includes Japan and France, will later join President Joe Biden on a farewell visit to Rome that will include a meeting with Pope Francis.
