Venezuela’s opposition on Monday called for demonstrations on January 9, a day before President Nicolas Maduro begins his third term in office after winning a disputed election.
“This day will go down in history as the day Venezuela said enough is enough,” prominent opposition leader Maria Corina Machado said in a video posted on the X platform.
“Freedom cannot be begged for, it must be won, it must be won.”
Venezuelan electoral authorities declared Maduro the winner shortly after the polls closed, but have yet to release detailed results.
The opposition later released a series of polling station results that showed González Urrutia winning by a wide margin.
