The United States has imposed new sanctions on the leader of the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as “Hemeti,” due to human rights violations and war crimes committed during the ongoing conflict in the country.

The U.S. Treasury Department confirmed that the sanctions include asset freezes and prohibitions on financial transactions with “Hemeti.”
