North Korea announced on Tuesday that it had tested a medium-range hypersonic missile designed to reach distant targets in the Pacific Ocean.

State media reported that leader Kim Jong Un oversaw the launch on Monday. During the launch, the missile traveled 1,500 kilometers at speeds exceeding 12 times the speed of sound before accurately hitting its target in the sea.
