The President of São Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Vila Nova, has dismissed the government and Prime Minister Patrice Emery Trovoada.

Nova accused Trovoada of “prolonged absences” and criticized the government for failing to provide solutions to major economic and financial challenges and their social impacts.

The president has given his party 72 hours to form a new administration to address these pressing issues.
