Pentagon blacklists new Chinese firms

The US Department of Defence (Pentagon) has blacklisted China’s largest electric vehicle battery maker and its largest technology company from June 2026, banning them from contracting with the Pentagon and sending a strong signal to US companies about the potential dangers of doing business with them.

On Tuesday, a full list was published, following a preliminary list published in the Federal Register on Monday, including a list of companies the Department of Defence says are doing work in the US for or on behalf of the Chinese military, or contributing to China’s military construction.

Pentagon spokeswoman Selina Rhodes said: ‘The new list is an important step in securing supply chains and eliminating entities that support China’s civil-military integration strategy.
