President Emmanuel Macron will visit Lebanon in the near future, the French presidency said on Thursday, after Macron spoke to Joseph Aoun to congratulate him on his election as Lebanon’s president, Reuters reported.
France will support Aoun’s efforts to form a new government, the Elysee Palace said in a statement, stressing that it must be able to implement the reforms needed for Lebanon’s stability and economic recovery.
Macron congratulated the new Lebanese president, who was elected on Thursday, ending a presidential vacuum that had lasted more than two years.
