Some 3.2 million children under the age of five are at risk of acute malnutrition in war-torn Sudan, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said on Friday.
Of this number, 772,000 children are expected to suffer from acute malnutrition,” Eva Hinds, UNICEF’s Sudan Advocacy and Communications Officer, told AFP.
A UN-backed assessment reported last month that famine was widespread in some parts of the country.
