The Syrian Interior Ministry announced on Saturday that a bombing attempt at the al-Sayyida shrine near the capital Damascus had been foiled.

‘The General Intelligence Service, through the specialised anti-ISIS department and in cooperation with the General Security Directorate in the Damascus countryside, managed to foil an attempt by ISIS gangs to detonate a bomb inside the shrine of al-Sayyida Zainab in Damascus,’ the ministry said in a statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency (Wa’an).

The operation resulted in the arrest of those involved in this criminal act,’ the interior ministry statement said.
