US Extends Legal Stay for Nearly One Million Migrants from El Salvador, Sudan, Ukraine, and Venezuela

The U.S. administration announced on Friday the extension of legal protection for nearly one million migrants from El Salvador, Sudan, Ukraine, and Venezuela for an additional 18 months.
The decision includes 232,000 Salvadorans, 1,900 Sudanese, 600,000 Venezuelans, and 103,700 Ukrainians.
This special status is granted to those who cannot be guaranteed safety if they return to their home countries due to wars or natural disasters.
This announcement comes ten days before the inauguration of elected president Donald Trump, who had attempted to cancel the program during his first term.
