A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Mexico early Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake’s epicenter was located 21 kilometers southeast of Aquila at a depth of 34 kilometers. No reports of significant damage or injuries have emerged.

Mexico, known for its seismic activity, has experienced several strong earthquakes in the past four decades, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives.
