The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kayka Kalas, announced on Sunday that EU foreign ministers will meet in Brussels at the end of this month to discuss the potential lifting of sanctions on Syria, with decisions expected to be made at that time.
In a related context, the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, welcomed the exemption of transactions with Syrian institutions from U.S. sanctions, emphasizing that further efforts on handling sanctions will be necessary.
Meanwhile, the Riyadh meetings on Syria have begun, with significant Arab and international participation, aimed at discussing the current situation and providing political and humanitarian support to the country following the fall of the Assad regime.
