Italian airline “ITA” and the Minister of Transportation in Tripoli announced the resumption of direct flights to the Libyan capital, Tripoli, on Sunday, making it the first airline from a major Western European country to take this step after a 10-year interruption due to war.
ITA will operate two direct flights weekly from Fiumicino Airport in Rome to Mitiga Airport in Tripoli.
However, the European Union still prohibits Libyan civil aviation flights from entering its airspace.
