Los Angeles Wildfires Claim 16 Lives Due to Fierce Winds

Los Angeles wildfires have resulted in at least 16 fatalities since Tuesday, caused by fierce winds, the strongest California has experienced since 2011. In related news, the coroner reported finding five victims in the Palisades area and 11 others in Eaton.
The fires, ignited by the Santa Ana winds, have destroyed over 12,000 buildings and 15,000 hectares of land. President Biden described the scene as “a war zone.”
As the fires spread, a curfew was imposed in the affected areas due to looting, while California’s governor called for a comprehensive review of the city’s water distribution systems after supply shortages worsened the situation.
