Preliminary results from the Chadian elections held on December 29 show that President Mahamat Idriss Déby’s party won a majority in the National Assembly, securing 124 out of 188 seats.
The elections, the first in over a decade, saw many opposition parties boycott, claiming the process was not transparent.
According to the National Electoral Authority, voter turnout was 51.56%, and the government affirmed the integrity of the electoral process.
