At least 40 farmers were killed in an armed attack by gunmen in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria, according to government officials.

Fighters from Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) are suspected to be behind this attack, as reported by the Borno State governor.

Both groups are believed to be responsible for assaults on farmers in the Dumba area.
