Chinese experts have successfully tested a drone powered by environmentally friendly liquid hydrogen fuel.
According to China Daily, the aircraft, named ‘DF600 Jinghong’, made its first test flight in Baoji City in China’s Shaanxi Province. The aircraft was developed by Tongchen Cryogenic, which includes experts from Shaanxi University and experts from several other Chinese companies.
Experts point out that the aircraft weighs up to 1.2 tonnes, can take off and land vertically, and can carry payloads between 120 and 160 kg.
The aircraft’s special feature is that it runs on condensed liquid hydrogen fuel, which is sufficient to cover longer distances than regular liquid hydrogen and can cover up to 1,000 kilometres per flight.
