Negotiators meeting on Wednesday are trying to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as talks enter their ‘final stages’, according to Qatar.
According to Hamas sources, the first phase of the agreement will last for 60 days and will include a “gradual” Israeli ground withdrawal from the Netzarim and Philadelphi axes. However, a Hamas source told Reuters late yesterday that the movement had not responded to the mediators at the time of his statement ‘because Israel has not handed over the withdrawal maps’.
Israel followed up the nearing of an agreement with more massacres in Gaza, killing 18 people, including children, and bringing the death toll since the start of the war to 46,645.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on Tuesday that an agreement on a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of ‘prisoners’ was very close, adding that the parties involved in drafting it were awaiting the final word from the Palestinian resistance movement ‘Hamas’.
